Wolfgang STANGL – viola:
Wolfgang Stangl began his instrumental training at the Eisenerz Music School. After attending the preparatory class at the University of Music in Graz with Walter Klasinc, he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG) and the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK) with Christian Euler and Thomas Kakuska.
As part of his education, he attended courses with Nobuko Imai, Terence Helmer, Georg Hamann, and received chamber music instruction from the Amadeus Quartet, the Alban Berg Quartet, the Prague String Quartet, the Bartók Quartet, and the Janáček Quartet. He also served as principal violist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Academy under Lorin Maazel.
A prizewinner at the national competition “Prima la Musica,” he spent several years as a substitute with the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra and was a member of various ensembles, including the “Orbis Quartet,” the “Girardi Ensemble,” the “Salonfähige Saitenspringer,” and “Szene instrumental.” He has performed at events such as the Music Festival of Arts Orford in Canada, the Chamber Music Festival Tel Aviv, the International Summer Academy Prague – Vienna – Budapest, the “Styriarte” festival, and with the Styrian Association of Composers, among others.
He currently plays as a permanent member of “Recreation – Grosses Orchester Graz” and the ALEA Ensemble, is a guest lecturer for Jeunesse Austria, and teaches at the J. J. Fux Conservatory in Graz and at the Music School Weiz.
